When people hear the phrase “taking a deep dive,” they tend to shy away from it automatically thinking it means intense challenge.  The opposite is true most times.  When you go deep into anything, you get to the root and shine light most often on your gifts.  When you stay at a surface level too long, it actually prolongs mediocrity, and not quite living your dream both in life and business.

So, what does a deep dive look like?  It will be different for everyone, but here are a few things.

Get clear on what is missing in your life that would make you more fulfilled.  It may be: more money, time, fulfilling work, better eating habits, quality friends, travel, new hobbies, and the list goes on.   Then make a commitment to change that for yourself.  Take 60 days and incorporate that new thing into your routine.

Get creative and have fun incorporating this new habit into your life.   Here are some of the main challenges I have been hearing these past couple of weeks.

  1. I don’t have enough money.    Solution:  Set your money goals.  Track ALL of your money coming in and going out.  Figure out how many clients you need to reach your goals.  Approach the sales call as inspiring another person to live a better life.   Have the person reach a decision of yes or no.  Continue on.  The goal of sales isn’t a yes, the goal is for the person to make a decision and then you can move on or begin work with them.
  2. I don’t have enough time.  Solution:  Begin with the end in mind.  How much time are you going to dedicate to you?   How much time do you need for other pursuits in your life?  Then, figure out how much time do you have with clients.   Most often I see many business owners dedicating an exaggerated amount of time with clients without having the clients take personal responsibility for their own growth.  This is exhausting for you and not of utmost service to your client.   You burn out and don’t have your needs met.  Ultimately it affects how much money you make also.
  3. I don’t have enough social time and friends.  Solution:  Did you set a goal as to how many new quality friends you would like to make this year?  Are you going out and actively seeking new opportunities to meet these people?  Do you have regular times in your calendar to nurture these friendships?

So often in business we forget some of the basics.   Sometimes a deep dive is needed to really bring some wonderful things to the surface.
