Break Free from the Workhorse Mentality: How to Achieve Your Dreams Without Burning Out

Do you feel like you’re pushing yourself to the limit to accomplish your goals, ignoring the whispers of your body telling you to slow down?

Last month, I had the privilege of performing in a 10-minute play at the Lower East Side Art Festival in New York City. It was an exhilarating experience—a dream come true. But as I dove deeper into my character, I found myself slipping back into an old, familiar role: pushing myself to the brink, ignoring my physical limits, and driving forward despite my exhaustion.

During one rehearsal, the director pulled me aside. “Wouldn’t your character be doing more?” she asked. “She’s a workhorse!”

The word hit me like a punch to the gut. I realized I had been unconsciously living out a story I no longer wanted for myself. I had spent years being the “workhorse,” pushing through discomfort, ignoring my body’s cries for rest, all in the name of getting things done.

But this time, I stopped. I knew better.

It’s taken me years to recover from the damage of pushing too hard—both physically and energetically. And it’s why I teach the importance of alignment: mind, body, and soul working in harmony with our true desires.

We all fall into old roles now and then, pushing ourselves beyond our limits. But what if you didn’t have to?

This year, especially in numerology, carries the energy of power, vision, and manifestation. But with that drive comes the temptation to overdo it. Balance is essential.
