For 20 years of my life, these birds had been with me. They came to me in the dreamtime. I rarely remembered my dreams….only birds dying in cages slowly….but they wouldn’t give up….even when I thought that I had. This is in honor of them. They have taught me so much. And now I truly am soaring.
What is your dream? Who will help you get there? It’s an awesome journey! You are supported….in more ways than you know now. DARE TO DREAM! You will never be the same.
Dare to Dream: In Honor of my Dream Birds 7/27/06
Gray, emaciated, your songs silenced long ago.
Left to die in tiny cages,
your prison.
Feathers falling, beaks twisted
no water, food, attention
But you survived.
Trapped, crying, afraid
Body aching and sore
Unable to trust
No dreams, desire, love
But I survived.
Majestic red bird.
Desperately tries to escape.
Succeeds but loses her crown
Ruby red like full blossomed lips.
Past, fear, sorrow
Locked within my cage
What must I do?
Cages gone. Testing freedom.
Walking slowly, wobbly, not yet ready to fly.
I notice you now
feathers askew
showing me the way.
CRACK
My cage opens.
Liberation.
Like my dear dream birds
I am now ready to soar.
