Many disruptions happen in life that can derail you in your business if you don’t have the proper foundation in place. I found that out when our lovely apartment had water pouring in from a broken sprinkler system in our ceiling. We are still dealing with things all over and a bit of chaos in the house.
So, how did I continue working my business without it affecting my clients, and everyone else?
I have systems in place. Here are a few that I find every entrepreneur needs to have in order to grow a business that is fun, profitable, and sustainable.
- Keep a morning routine: Take care of your body, drink plenty of water, journal, do some sort of breathing meditation. All of these things help you maintain calm so that you can look at everything coming at you in an objective manner.
- Have a plan. So many people I speak with have “freedom” as one of their top core values. And they feel a plan will squash that. In fact, it creates more freedom. Plan out your week, the Friday before. Tweak your daily plan every morning. Look at it every night and see where you fell short, where you can improve, and where you knocked it out of the park.
- Be true to who you are. Speak your truth. Huh? How does that fit into a solid foundation. It’s simple. If you are not authentically you, and sharing from that space, the business foundation you built will crumble. After a while, you no longer can hide from yourself, and things fall apart. So, look at what you share from who you are and what you believe in. Not from, what do you think your audience wants to hear. When you are inauthentic, people can sense it a mile away.
- Get quality support and continue to reevaluate it and uplevel when needed. As you continue to grow your business, the tools you need shift also. As you uplevel in all areas, your staff needs to also, or they are no longer a right fit for you.
- Honor your contacts. Have a follow-up system in place that makes sense for who you are and how you work. I will share more on this in upcoming articles.
- Have a clean and organized space to do your work in. Even though our house is a bit chaotic with all the water damage, I carved out my little space to do my work so that I am clear for my clients, as well as myself.
There is so much more that I could talk about here, and I will probably do that in future newsletters. This has been the hot topic for so many recently. I would love to know what kind of actions you are taking to create stronger foundations in your business. Please share those with everyone on my blog.
