Do you value yourself?
Many of you are going to answer immediately, “well, of course”. And that’s how I used to answer. And at the same time I would tell people I could not do certain things because I didn’t have the money, I was broke, I was tired and exhausted, I had a relationship that didn’t support my interests. After all the work I have done, and continue to do, I can look back and see that even though I said I valued myself, they were only words. Yes, there were certain places I valued myself, but obviously I needed more help.
- What are the excuses or reasons that you give for not doing something that you love?
- For not following your passion?
- For staying in the same status quo?
That is the real issue needing to be worked on at the moment. This is awareness, and it comes in different levels, and it is powerful each time we access another level. It’s not about beating ourselves up with how the past was. It’s about claiming how our present and future can be.
It’s always humbling when we come up against one of our stories that we thought were long gone. Last week I was up against one of mine. I saw it play it out in my life. If I’m successful in my business, then I can’t be successful in my personal life. My story was that I can’t have it all. I had to stay small. Luckily, I have created a huge support system to help me through these moments. I have spiritual, and business mentors, and energy workers that I see on a regular basis. Instead of staying in this place for years, it took me days to work down to the core issue. And now I can go on both in my personal life and in my business.
So many times we feel that our business is just that, business. It’s how we make money, and it provides for our family. However, it is intricately connected to every fiber of your being. It is the place where you will see your own personal demons, your greatest gifts, and where you will experience tremendous growth. It truly is about the mixture of the professional and the personal. The profit and the passion. If one is out of balance, things don’t flow.
Where has your challenge been lately? Now step back and look. How far does it reach into every decision you make? Are you ready to make a change? Are you ready to embrace and step up to the reality that you have a difference to make in the world? It’s time to stop hiding. The world needs you and your gifts. But first, you must learn to truly value yourself.
