There is a rhythm and an aliveness that happens when we are tapped into an empowered reality. It sparkles, fizzes, and rises up from within us at the moments when we most need it. This is the zone of possibility and magic that always exists for us. It pulses with an aliveness that is palpable on every level and reaches into the core of your being.
There are moments in life where we have experienced this desire to go forward, believe in possibilities, be bold and declare to the Universe what we want.
We feel this energy bubbling up within, and get impatient and want answers right now. At times we direct this impatience towards others. They aren’t answering quick enough. There are too many loose ends. Our energy goes outwards thinking it’s about others.
It really is about ourselves.
What are we committing to and what do we really want? Until we can answer that and step in to it, this spinning and turning continues to happen.
I know this feeling because it creeps up at various times during the year. I feel it now. Intensely.
I know there is something that wants out and wants expression. Yet, over the years I got conditioned to going slow, waiting, and giving myself excuses or reasons why it might not happen. It really is a way of conditioning my ego so that it doesn’t feel bruised.
Yet I know that true adventure and living life doesn’t come from the safety zone. It comes from fully stepping out and claiming to the Universe what I REALLY want.
What do I do? I take a dream journey. After all, it’s the Dreamtime I am feeling right now. The place where dreams show up to then become reality or not.
I’m suddenly transported to my younger self at age 23. The adventurer and traveler who had big dreams. Back then, I was following my passion speaking and studying Spanish. Very few people really did that back in Minnesota in 1989. After all, it wasn’t practical. Many people didn’t speak it.
I didn’t care. It was my passion, and I knew I could make it work. I wasn’t about to let anyone tell me any different. I did it and was very successful. I became a University instructor and taught Spanish at the University happily for 21 years.
So today, I feel that connection to that younger, fiery version of me. Her determination and conviction touches me today. She is the one who doesn’t know what she is doing, yet knows there is a big future awaiting her.
I notice myself now, 30 years later, and something rears up – an intense feeling of not wanting to let her down. I know that who I become and what I do also leads her. It determines her path. Without the continued fire within me, she will choose paths. The blander ones. The ones that don’t have as much soul, change and excitement.
I look at her now. So confident and a big dreamer. She didn’t care what others thought of what she believed in. It was a connection to her heart that drove her.
Even though I know that I’m leading her, in this moment, she’s leading me.
She’s helping me tap back into that person I know I am within. The one that knows anything is possible. The dreamer that follows her passions.
I sit for a moment and breathe in her energy. Her passion, determination and fiery spirit. I temper it with the wisdom I have gathered over the years. We make a good team. The energy of her coupled with my years of wisdom to accomplish new goals in a way that is informed, easier and much more powerful.
What is her advice for me? Just go for it. Do what you want to do. Put it out there. After all, you need to know if it works. If it doesn’t then you can move on.
It was much how she was with guys and dating. She didn’t hesitate to ask guys out or show her interest. Yes, she was crushed when they said no or weren’t interested. She moved on. She vowed at a younger age never to spend years chasing a dream or a boy that would never reciprocate that feeling.
And today…I choose to decide and remember. What am I ready to take forward and see if it works? And leave it, if it doesn’t.
Life is meant to be lived to the fullest.
