I don’t have time. I’ll do it later. I have a lot of work to do. Who am I to express my ideas? My cash flow/business isn’t where it needs to be, so why am I thinking of writing, painting, acting, singing? I’m tired. I don’t know how to start. I need a title. I need the perfect supplies.
I don’t have time.
And the images and ideas sit there imprisoned, stale, bored, anxious, sad, neglected. They don’t get it. Why someone would get so excited and enamored with them, and then leave them all of a sudden. Alone, without expression, and semi-lifeless.
They made a commitment to express themselves through a certain person. The person who said they were ready. However, the commitment wasn’t returned with the same enthusiasm. They hear what’s going on. The excuses. I need a chunk of time. Once this deadline is done. Once my kids are older. Once my kids move away. Once I clean my house. But that time doesn’t come, or it comes too late.
If we were in that situation, after a while we would rebel if we felt imprisoned, stagnant, bored, anxious, sad or neglected. We would shake things up, stand our ground, bust out, and make noise until we were heard. We would go elsewhere to someone who respects our need to express.
So what do the images and ideas do? They are alive after all.
They do the same as you or I. They wake you up in the middle of the night feeling anxious. You may not remember your dreams, but you know you were visited. You feel a tightness in your chest or throat, and know that your hearts longing and need to express is pounding. Certain things in life start to fall away to give you space. Appointments are cancelled, people get sick, clients fall away. Your mind might freak out wondering why this is happening. They are demanding attention.
At times you may feel the need to hoard these ideas for a later time when it is convenient for you. You don’t want someone else to “take” it. In essence, you are keeping it prisoner. They are slippery like water though. They are pure energy and have the ability to leave when they know they aren’t heard or respected. When they know they need full expression.
Many times, they will give you one last chance before they move on. After all, they trust you and know you can do it. Do you trust yourself?
It’s time to listen to the images and ideas. Give them the expression they deserve. Your life will be forever changed as you engage with your Creative Spirit.
